This is genius! I don't know why I haven't thought of it before!

So one of the things about london that really gets me down, I have realised recently, is the fact that I don't spend enough time with friends, outside. In fact the only time I really spend with friends, other than the ones I live with, work with and the ones that come round occasionally to record radio shows(which is also going to stop after this week) is when we're going out, which generally involves getting drunk and having to shout over loud music.

I miss just generally hanging around in the outdoors with people. It seems that in the fast paced life of the city dweller, just generally hanging around not doing anything is out of the question; So, I thought to myself, I need something that is going to get my friends out of their houses and into the great outdoors, something that will make them feel like they are doing something, so that they can justify it in their diaries...

and then it hit me whilst I was walking to camden on wednesday, because I walked past some...

Allotments.

Yes, thats right..... Allotments

So basically, I'm thinking of getting a group of people together, renting an allotment and working together to grow vegetables, or herbs, or even flowers! heck we could cover the whole damn thing in a lawn if we wanted, it would be ours to create something beautiful as we saw fit.

I have been looking into it and they are really cheap to rent, a 10 x 30 yard plot would cost just under £60 for the year, including water. That is £5 a month. So for a group of 5 people it's £1 a month each! Obviously I have been looking at plots in Barnet, but if some of you who live further away are interested then we can look at plots in a central location.

I'm actually really excited about this idea now, and am going to do it anyway but would be very happy to have any of you to join me in my horticultural mission!

Just imagine it! We could have a shed!
