How's things?

Thought I'd pop in and show my face, I'm SURE you were all missing it terribly!

This is probably going to be a rambler, I feel like splurging! :)

So it's Friday night, well, at 12.02 strictly speaking it's saturday morning, but lets not be pedantic about this. I'm at home and I'm sitting here in my room and the world feels more, well, alive (for want of a better word, I was going to say real but it always feels real) than it has done for some time, It's hard to explain. It's warm. The gentle cool breeze from the fan wafts past me occasionally as it carries out it pious oscillations. on 1. 3 would just over the top, it's not that warm.

It sounds like someone nearby is having a party outside, not a loud "WTF! turn that bloody racket down!!" kind but a happy, reasonably volumed "oooh..summer" kind, I only wish they'd had a barbecue so that I might get the smell too!
yeah, It's nice.

So, I'm quite happy as I've just downloaded a 7 album Jonathan Richman torrent! My current mission is to get the rest of the band into his stuff, Then I can rename the band the Robot pirate modern lovers. which has a good ring to it.

Talking of the band, that's all going really well, we've played 4 gigs now with another one on monday,we seem to be getting a good response, and lots of people adding "..and I'm not just saying that!" to the end of their complements, which is nice. It's so nice to be back playing gigs again, for all their hassle of travelling to places, trying to get people to turn up, hanging around waiting to sound check and almost having panic attacks on stage (although, not succumbing to them under such a pressured situation is making me feel a lot stronger mentally) I actually feel like I'm doing what I'm meant to be doing and it's fucking awesome!

We're going into the studio at the end of the month to record a demo, I'll stick it up here when it's done for you all to download!

That, of course, is once we get back form GLASTONBURY! WOOOOO!!!!!
I'm quite excited now, and almost packed this evening, but I got distracted so I now have a load of camping stuff all over my floor.
I could list all the bands I want to see but that would just take ages so I'll just copy and paste this
http://www.efestivals.co.uk/festivals/lineups.php?hits_seen=0&FestID=1175
and let you go and look for yourselves. I shall continue yaddering away about other stuff, feeling smug.

I've finally gotten round to watching Carnivale now too, (For those of you who don't know, It's an american serial) which is really good, and considering that I'm watching it after finishing both Heroes and Lost, it's standing up rather well I feel. it's a lot slower paced than those two and doesn't have the same nailbiting urgency either, but it's dark and strange and unsettling. It's quite lynchian, but a bit less confusing. but it does star Michael J. Anderson! and Clea DuVall who is also in Heroes. its a small world.

It's basically a fight between good and evil type story, although 6 episodes in (out of 12) and there hasn't been any fighting yet. You have a boy (nick stahl) who's picked up by a travelling Carnivale after his mother dies and his house in knocked down(hows that for luck?) who appears to have some special power to heal things, but at the cost of draining life from things around him. he's completely reluctant to use it and has only used it once so far, he would appear to have some kind of family connection with the Carnival, and a blind man who drinks a lot of absinthe is trying to train him to use his powers, but he ain't having none of it. Then elsewhere you have a preacher who seems to be getting visions from God telling him to help out all the poor and underprivileged people in his area, when he does this it displeases all the good wealthy folk and things go pretty bad for him. like i said I'm halfway through the series now and these two story lines seem to have nothing to do with each other except they both shared a dream in the second episode. hmmm.. we shall see. I strongly recommend it.

Also If you haven't seen Lost or Heroes yet then seriously, SORT IT OUT!
heroes is an amazing series, but the finale is a bit of an anticlimax, but it lead nicely into the second series I guess.
Series 3 of Lost starts off badly but soon regains the old magic and has you swearing at the TV by the 2 part finale and damning the writers all to hell.

Anyway, I'm off now, I shall speak to you all soon.

Take care.
